Trauma therapy
Trauma has a way of making the world feel smaller. Experiences from the past can continue to intrude on the present, showing up in your thoughts, emotions, body, relationships, or sleep. Over time, it can become difficult to feel safe, connected, or fully yourself. If this feels familiar, you're not alone, and healing is possible.
You are not broken. Your mind and body have done their best to protect you, and those protective responses often continue long after the danger has passed. Trauma therapy isn't about forcing you to relive painful memories. It's about helping your nervous system regain a sense of safety, flexibility, and choice so that the past no longer dictates your present.
I believe that while we are often hurt in relationships, we also heal in relationships. The therapeutic space I offer is collaborative, compassionate, and grounded in respect for your autonomy. You set the pace. Together, we'll decide when, and if, you feel ready to approach difficult experiences. My role is to provide guidance, structure, and evidence-based tools while walking alongside you throughout the process.
I am trained in several evidence-based trauma treatments, including Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Prolonged Exposure (PE), Written Exposure Therapy (WET), and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). Together, we'll choose the approach that best fits your goals, preferences, and readiness.
Our first priority is helping you experience relief from the symptoms that are interfering with your life, whether that's anxiety, nightmares, intrusive memories, avoidance, hypervigilance, or feeling emotionally disconnected. As those symptoms begin to ease, many people naturally find themselves reconnecting with parts of life that trauma may have taken from them.
For some people, that includes reconnecting with sexuality, intimacy, desire, and pleasure. Trauma can profoundly affect our relationship with our bodies, our partners, and our capacity for enjoyment. If and when you feel ready, this can become an important part of our work together. Healing isn't only about reducing pain, it can also be about creating space for joy, connection, vitality, and feeling fully alive again.
You don't have to do this alone. Wherever you're starting from, I'm here to help you move toward greater safety, freedom, and connection.
